Miyagi

Located in the city of Sendai, Miyazaki-temple ruins can be seen at the foot of the hill where Omiya-jinja is located. The temple was destroyed by a fire in 1871, but its history dates back to 718. The ruins are dedicated to a kami named Miyazaki-taikashi and are said to have healing properties.

文化的背景

Omiya-jinja is closely associated with the local legend of the 'yurei' (ghost) that haunts the area. Locals believe that on certain nights, the ghost of a samurai can be seen riding his horse through the forest near the shrine.

歴史

The shrine was originally built as a Shinto shrine during the Nara period (710-794 CE).
