Shitennō-ji, located in Osaka's Osaka Castle Park, is one of Japan's oldest and most important Shinto shrines. Founded in 578 CE by Prince Shōtoku, the shrine enshrines the Buddha and ten other deities, but its primary kami is that of Shitennoji-inari, a variation of Inari Okami, which protects the rice fields and agriculture of Osaka.
