Located in the city of Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, Eighteen Shrines Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Fujin, the god of wind and storms. The shrine's name 'Hachijimura-jinja' roughly translates to 'Eighteen Shrine'. According to legend, the shrine was founded on August 15, 718 CE by Prince Nagara, who was exiled from the capital for his role in a rebellion against Emperor Junnin.
