愛宕神社, located in Hyogo Prefecture, is one of the most important Shinto shrines dedicated to Amaterasu Okinami, the sun goddess. Dating back to the 7th century, this shrine has been rebuilt and restructured over time, reflecting the changing historical periods. In the Nara period (710-794 CE), the shrine was constructed as a simple vermillion gate dedicated to Amaterasu. The current structure dates back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE). The shrine is also known for its unique architecture featuring a vermilion torii gate, as well as several smaller shrines and altars. Visitors can observe these architectural features while praying for good fortune, health, and prosperity.
