文化的背景
Eight celestial bodies are associated with Shiga Prefecture. The shrine's eight shrines within its grounds represent these celestial bodies: Inari (rice), Hachiman (warrior), Susanoo-no-kami (storms), Takamagahara (heaven), Amaterasu (sun), Tsukuyomi (moon), Kamayanagi (the Great Forest), and Kotoshino (a mountain god).
歴史
Founded in 757 AD during the Nara period, it was originally named Kan'onji-hiromine-ya, but later came to be known as Nan'eno-miya. It became eight-daimyō-sha or 'eight daimyo shrines' due to its eight shrine structures within its grounds.
