文化的背景

Eight Humps Shrine is famous for its unique architectural style, which features a vermilion torii gate surrounded by eight large stone pillars that resemble the 'humps' of a wave. The shrine is also closely tied to the legend of Susanoo-no-Kami's battle with the god of the underworld, who was defeated and forced into hiding at this very location.

歴史

The shrine was originally built in 645 CE during the Nara period as a memorial to Prince Mochihito, who died under mysterious circumstances.
