Tsuruga Shrine, located in the town of Minato, Hyogo Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of the sea, Tsuruga Okami. The shrine's name, 'Kazuno Jinja,' roughly translates to 'Blue Field Shrine.' Its history dates back to 757 AD, when it was originally built as a temple dedicated to Shitennō-ji, one of Japan's oldest Buddhist temples. Over time, the shrine was transformed into a Shinto shrine in honor of Kazuno Hachiman-no-Kami, a kami associated with the sea and storms.

文化的背景
Kazuno Hachiman-no-Kami is believed to be a manifestation of the powerful storm god that once ravaged the region. The shrine's architecture reflects this connection to the sea, with curved rooflines reminiscent of waves. During the spring festival, locals reenact an ancient ritual in which they offer prayers and sacrifices to appease the kami.
