Dayo Shrine, located in the heart of Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, is dedicated to the Shinto deity of fertility and agriculture, Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance as a major stopover for travelers along the famous Route 233, also known as the Nakasemiji Route, which connects Fukuoka with Kyoto. Established during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), Dayo Shrine has undergone numerous renovations and expansions over the centuries, earning it the nickname 'The Temple of a Thousand Temples'.
