Shoeikan, founded in 1918, is a traditional ryokan in I佐, Kagoshima. It has been loved by locals and travelers, including drug sellers, for generations. The new generation of host and hostess aims to make it more comfortable and slightly stylish. I佐 is a quiet small town that feels like a hidden gem, yet it has surprising attractions, like Niagara-like falls, a world reminiscent of Studio Ghibli, and more.
